ABOUT

JOHN AMPLAS

Aspiring to live my life creatively has been at the heart of everything I do.  Naturally we do nothing alone.  So I would like to express my gratitude to all of the inspiring artists I have learned from and shared the creative process with over the years.

My rewards have been many:  I am a stage and film actor, a stage director, retired Professor Emeritus with the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University.

I owe enormous gratitude and love to my artistic home on the corner of Craft Avenue and Hamlet Street, The Pittsburgh Playhouse.  Since 1972 It has provided me with an extraordinary "Life in the Theatre".

Additionally I am an amateur painter and lucky Father to a most creative Son, Harry. See his work.

Please look around and listen to the Demos and perhaps we'll become new friends and colleagues.

For inspiration and support, I want to thank Amy Hartman, Christian Rummel and Cheryl Stockton.

Thank you,  John
